Meet Me Fortier

Me Fortier is an altruistic person with a sense of duty and who has to heart the best interest of your children. She has always wanted to have a positive impact on the world around her and on the people who cross her path. Practicing law is the best way she found to help out those who are going through a difficult period in their lives, whether it is caused by the end of a relationship or by the possibility of going to jail.

The practice of law can quickly become cold and grey. Me Fortier brings some warmth to it by practicing in the fields that pertain to her clients's personal life, and she is there for them when they need to open and need her to play an active role in their lives.

Experience

Me Fortier has been called to the Bar of Quebec in 2010 after completing her undergraduate degree at the Université de Montréal. She then completed her internship at a multinational aerospace engineering company.

In the public service, she has acquired experience at the Commission for Occupational Health and Safety as well as with the Estates Service administered by the Government of Quebec.

In the private sector, Me Fortier worked at the family law firm Francoeur et Ste-Marie, and then in her own cabinet as a general practitioner, mainly in criminal and family law.

Having a family herself, she is able to understand the issues and dilemmas that arise during a breakup and the ensuing life. It therefore seemed natural to her to continue her training and become an accredited family mediator.

This path led her to establish Étude légale Fortier, where she mainly practices family mediation, wedding celebration, family law, criminal law and penal law. Along with her colleagues from Juripop, she was awarded first position in the top 15 Quebec Lawyers of Droit Inc.

Practice

She considers that family mediation is a very good option for those who need it. Me Fortier offers couples with children, whether they are separating or already separated, the opportunity to resolve their differences by benefiting from government-subsidized mediation sessions. Me Fortier also practices private mediation for couples who are not eligible for government-subsidized sessions or for those who have exhausted their number of subsidized sessions.

When the situation lends itself to it, Me Fortier favours alternative solutions for conflict resolution, such as collaboration, negotiation, mediation and amicable settlements. They are generally much less expensive, stressful and cumbersome than litigation in the courts.

Nevertheless, whether in criminal law or family law, some situations cannot be settled amicably, through an agreement or with family mediation. Mr. Fortier will then accompany her clients through the various stages of the judicial process. She remains aware at all times that this is a difficult time for her clients, who are facing psychological, financial and emotional stress.

In any situation, she always ensures the best interest of her clients will prevail.
